Auditions
College Jazz Intensive – Audition Guidelines
Perform 1 Jazz Standard, 1 Blues, and 1 Ballad of your choosing (except Drums).
- Winds – Play Melody, Improvise for minimum 2 Choruses
- Piano/Guitar/Vibraphone – Play Melody, Comp for 1 Chorus, Improvise for 2 Choruses
- Bass – Play Melody, Walk Bass Line for 1 Chorus, Improvise for 2 Choruses
- Drums – Demonstrate the following styles for 32 measures each:
- Medium Swing (120 BPM) with Sticks
- Medium Swing (120 BPM) with Brushes
- Uptempo Swing (240 BPM)
- Bossa Nova (120 BPM)
- Afro-Cuban of Your Choice
